JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Waves are proud to announce that guard Shyanne Sellers has been called up to the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks as a developmental player, becoming the fourth UPSHOT player and first Jacksonville Waves player in history to be called up to the WNBA.
Sellers, a native of Aurora, Ohio, averaged 13.3 points per game this year for the Waves along with 4.2 rebounds per game while averaging 30.7 minutes per contest. Sellers was also a key cog in Jacksonville’s offense, ranking 3rd in the UPSHOT League with an average of 3.7 assists per game. Sellers had 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in Jacksonville’s 81-76 championship loss to the Charlotte Crown.
A former Maryland Terrapin, Sellers is now the fourth UPSHOT player to have been called up to the WNBA in UPSHOT’s inaugural season, joining Michelle Onyiah (Indiana Fever), Christyn Williams (Dallas Wings), and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (Los Angeles Sparks).
